Asami Matsumoto

Hello/Konnichiwa !! My name is Asami Matsumoto! I am from Japan and lived there for first 17 years of my life, then moved to the UK to complete the IB diploma at the United World College. I graduated from McGill University in May 2006, with a B.A. degree in Political Science and International Development Studies.

I, as a child, personally had a difficult time in my family. I spent a month in what is called a "shelter" to protect myself from violence. I was once lost not knowing who I was, what I should do, but with the great help of people, I could find myself and pursue my dreams. Because I have been helped by so many people, I am determined to commit to work for other people, especially children, who are in need.

I believe all children, regardless of economic and social background are to be children. They are to enjoy themselves, to be proud of themselves, and to be loved. I am very happy to be able to contribute to AIC as a board member and have decided to commit myself to provide love and all the support that children need.
