Adults

And of course, alongside the children there are plenty of bade log ("big people" - i.e. adults) who have indispensable roles in keeping the home up and running. Click on a photo to read more about the staff and home directors.

a picture of Sangeeta

Name: Sangeeta (a.k.a. "Maushi")

Age: 30

Position: Primary Caretaker

Joined the AIC Family: September 2005

Likes: the house neat and tidy, children who behave and make her job easier, sewing, babies, cooking, gardening, nursing baby animals back to health, learning anything and everything, social work, sarcasm, hair oil, instilling a sense of morality in the children

Dislikes: dishonesty, greediness, disorder, loud noise, messy kitchens, dirty floors

About Sangeeta: Sangeeta is the live-in caretaker/cook/woman extraordinaire who essentially personifies AIC on the ground. She is the one who makes the house tick from 6AM until well late at night, and alongside her work as the principal caretaker, she also helps run the outreach program. Sangeeta is forever the perfectionist, a very hard worker, and has an immense sense of pride in her work with AIC. This means that she would not settle for anything but the best for our kids. When she is not busy attending to the children or out running around the community conducting home visits for the outreach girls, she can be found madly hammering away at her sewing machine, or, during less intense moments, snuggling up with the kittens and enjoying a cup of tea.
