Well, the inevitable has occurred - with nine children, two directors, and two caretakers living in our rented three-bedroom house, we have outgrown our current living arrangements. As we always knew we would have to do eventually, we are now on the market for a house to buy, one that we intend will be our permanent home.

To begin this new house hunt, we first turned to those who clearly have a stake in the process and outcome: the children! They have plenty of ideas and opinions (as you can see from their quite creative artistic renditions of our future abode), but more than anything, are thrilled about the prospect of having a house that will be ours forever. They also very unselfishly (and unanimously!) voted that when we have a bigger house, we should definitely take in more children, with suggestions ranging from an additional 4 to 200 children (in reality we plan to take in about 6 more, but we won't spoil their fantasies of a 209-child family just yet).
In order to be in a position to buy a house in India, complete with sufficient surrounding land area so that we will eventually be able to expand our facilities and community involvement, we are anticipating costs ranging from $250,000 to $350,000 (USD).
This means that now, more than ever, we need your support!

We're now collecting PayPal donations through Chipin, which lets you see how close we are to getting our new house! It's still the same process through PayPal, and your personal information is completely secure.
Checks should be addressed to the "Ashraya Initiative for Children" and can be mailed to the branch closest to you.
